    EXTENDED COMMUNITY CARE TEAM
    Occupational Therapist
    29.7 hrs BAND 5
    £30,229-£37,664 pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, band 5, Occupational Therapist to join our highly skilled Extended Community Care Team within Helensburgh and Lomond working as part of our wider Occupational Therapy Service with focus on Reablement.

Reablement is a goal-focused intervention that involves defined therapeutic work over a 6-8 week period. Reablement uses a strengths-based, person-centred approach which has been shown to lead to improvements in health and well-being. Our Reablement Service, together with the wider Health and Social Care Team, can support timely discharge from hospital and support individuals to remain living at home if, due to poor health or disability, they have increasing difficulty with daily life activities. Reablement promotes choice, autonomy and independence.

Duties include provision of Occupational Therapy assessment including rehabilitation, moving and handling, collaborative goal setting and creation of person-centred action plans as well as the use of standardised assessment tools. You will be responsible with support to allocate work to a team of Reablement Support Workers and to deputise for the band 6 Reablement Occupational Therapist. You will work closely with the wider service including the Integrated Care and Assessment Team to facilitate timely discharge from hospital and to work in a preventative way to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions. You will provide cover to the wider Occupational Therapy Service where required.

Previous experience working in Health and Social Care settings would be beneficial but is not essential due to the training and support available. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Attributes of a successful candidate include: self-awareness, excellent communication skills, team working skills, adaptability, effective time-management and a willingness to learn. Good IT skills are also required.

    • You will be line managed by the Helensburgh and Lomond Occupational Therapy Team Lead.
    • The organisation is committed to supporting your professional development and you will have access to appropriate training and support to enable you to learn and develop and carry out your role effectively.
    • Access to a car and a full driving licence are essential.

This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
