Warehouse Team Leader


Full time Contract available (Must be available to work between 8am - 5:30pm 5 out of 7 days)

Flexibility needed to work the driving nightshift (4.30pm -midnight).


As a warehouse team leader you will be responsible for assisting the warehouse manager in the day to day operational needs, including orders & fulfilments, audits, training and development of existing and new team members.

You will be a key part of the warehouse and logistics team and work efficiently to support the aims and objectives of business.

About you

  • You'll fully support the warehouse manager in the daily operations including order fulfilment, stock control, processes and systems to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately and targets are met and become a vital part of the supply chain process.
  • Training and development all current and new team members within the guidelines and standards of the company.
  • In the absence of the Warehouse Manager, supervise the team and communicate with various levels of management to contribute to our overall company vision and objectives.
  • As the position is currently very handson, you will carry out physical work on a daily basis to support the current and expanding needs of the business.
  • You will be a strong leader with a flexible approach who enjoys being responsible for managing all areas within the warehouse and transport department, then this could be just the position for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • Managing the picking, packing & despatching of various products (Ambient, fridge and freezer) to supply our rapidly growing number of stores across the North of England ensuring accuracy is paramount
  • Managing the receipt of goods, documenting all deliveries into the warehouse, pallet management and safe appropriate storage
  • Continuously looking to improve all warehouse processes and procedures to deliver the best quality service to our stores and ensuring the processes are being followed by all staff.
  • Stock management of internal goods within Taurus and ensuring the stock is all accounted for
  • Using Safety Culture checks that building and vehicle checks are being completed and the HACCP CCP's 1, 5 and 6 are monitored and compliant.
  • Ensure the vehicle checks and cleaning program is followed
  • Support the warehouse Manager in hitting KPI targets.
  • Support management with ensuring the Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed and ensuring that the Drivers are safe and keeping compliant.
  • General housekeeping and ensuring the warehouse is safe, clean and tidy at all times and compliant with the 5S methodology.
  • Liaising with the Purchasing to ensure the the weekly stocktake is accurate and the bay locations are tidy in readiness for counting
  • Supervise, manage and motivate employees by leading by example, and assisting with rotas, ensuring there is suitable cover in all events.
  • Own, develop and train new starters into the warehouse and transport team.
  • Driving a 3.5 ton or 7.5 ton van as and when required by the business.
  • Responsible for all warehouse & transport health and safety, including compliance, risk assessments and continuous training.
  • Build a positive and proactive relationship with other key members of the Operations and Central Teams.


Reliability is key, this is a fundamental role, our stores rely on the deliveries being delivered accurately every night and it is the role of the Warehouse & Transport Team Leader to ensure that this is completed daily to a high standard of accuracy.

Requirements:


  • Experience within a warehouse/logistic company
  • Full clean manual driving licence, ideally in possession of a C1 licence (holders of licences before 1997 would already hold the required permissions)
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management skills and a 'can do' attitude
  • Have a keen eye for detail, and be able to take responsibility for tasks using their own initiative
  • Previous experience of managing a large scale project
  • Proven, strong management skill
  • Good IT skills
  • Self motivated, flexible to work extra hours, various shifts as and when the business requires
