We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for Associate Cloud Security Engineers to join our team and play a vital role in continuously monitoring for threats and implementing proactive measures to safeguard our cloud infrastructure.

Due to the demands of this exciting programme of work, the Agency is currently experiencing rapid growth and we require more incredible digital, security and technology experts to join us, including the roles of Associate Cloud Security Engineers.

The Associate Cloud Security Engineers will orchestrate the implementation of security focused technologies within Social Security Scotland cloud environments. They will configure and maintain access controls, encryption mechanisms, identity management systems and PKI technologies.

Collaborating with teams, they will assess and rectify security vulnerabilities, while continuously monitoring for threats and implementing proactive measures to safeguard our cloud infrastructure.

Job description:


  • Identify and register incidents, gathering the required information and allocating it to the appropriate channel.
  • Show an awareness of problem resolution processes.
  • Investigate problems in systems, processes and services, with an understanding of the level of a problem (for example, strategic, tactical or operational).
  • Contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
  • Explain the purpose of user stories and the focus on user needs.
  • Ongoing build and maintenance of the Social Security infrastructure environments and security components.
  • Develop and maintain the necessary pipelines and tooling to support the Social Security DevSecOps cloud practices.
  • Development and management of security tooling and services including, but not limited to, KMS, PKI, Encryption, native cloud security tooling, Software composition analysis, Dynamic and Static security testing.
  • Maintaining knowledge of this area of the ICT specialism, to suggest enhancements or modernisation where and when applicable. The post holder(s) will also be required to stay informed of developments in other areas of technology which have a bearing on the provision of services for the Social Security Programme and Agency

Person specification:


  • Basic knowledge of deploying and managing a cloud environments (preferably AWS)
  • Working knowledge of coding or scripting
  • Experience of delivering results within a dynamic environment
