    Job summary

    The post holder reports directly to the Associate Director of Nursing and Professional Workforce

    The post holder will have a key role in the Organisation in developing and maintaining a sustainable Nursing workforce for the future.

    Working alongside the senior nursing team to support the development and growth of our nursing workforce, supporting the operational teams with workforce planning and delivery.

    Will support the development and lead the delivery of Trust wide projects, plans and policies that support the nursing workforce planning and development.

    To provide advice and professional leadership to senior leaders within the Organisation in relation to issues of professional practice, safe staffing and workforce development.

    Key role in shaping, planning and delivering high quality, innovative, patient and staff focused projects and work streams to support the delivery of safe and effective care.

    To ensure that safe staffing systems and processes are in place to enable the delivery of high quality and safe care to service users and subsequently the delivery of the overarching Trust strategy.

    Supporting the delivery of the recruitment, retention and growth of the Nursing workforce to meet the needs of the local population.

    Main duties of the job

    Using sound professional judgement to interpret and support the implementation of national, regional and local policy.

    Support the strategic objectives relating to nursing and midwifery safe staffing, workforce development and delivery. Use professional judgement, experience and knowledge to interpret and address a range of issues

    Work with workforce, recruitment, education and professional colleagues to ensure there is a robust recruitment and retention strategy for nursing and midwifery posts.

    Work in collaboration with nursing, maternity, AHP and medical colleagues to support the development and the delivery of sustainable nursing and midwifery workforce model, fit for the future.

    To support regular analysis and interpretation of complex data relating to workforce and patient and staff outcomes and safety.

    Provide monthly safe staffing assurance reports

    Undertake Bi-annual nursing establishment reviews using the Safer Nursing Care Tools (SNCT) and Community Nurse Safe Staffing Tools (CNSST), identify key recommendations leading to measurable improvements to patient care.

    Alongside the Associate Director of Nursing and Professional Workforce, provide assurance of Trust compliance with the Developing Workforce Safeguards in relation to safe staffing.

    With support from the Associate Director of Nursing, contribute to the development and review of the Trusts and CNO Workforce Strategy, becoming a member of the CNO Safe Staffing Faculty.
