Single Homeless Project has a new opportunity for a
Lead Worker - Assertive Outreach to join our team based in
Westminster. You will join us on a
full time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours
and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26, £28,193.12 per annum plus benefits.**
SHP Westminster Floating Support Service is funded by Westminster Borough to provide holistic, dynamic support to residents of Westminster, including those placed in out of borough temporary accommodation.


The aim of the general service is to assist vulnerable residents to sustain their accommodation and link into appropriate services to enable them to maximise opportunities and to flourish.


The Assertive Outreach Team has been commissioned to provide intensive, trauma-informed floating support for those placed in Out of Borough Temporary Accommodation placements and in treatment for substance use.


About Lead Worker the role:


Using a psychologically informed and trauma informed framework, the Assertive Outreach Worker will focus on tenancy sustainment, and wider outcomes such as improving physical and mental wellbeing, engagement with specialist services to better manage their substance use and access to employment.

They will also work alongside external agencies to ensure there is a multi-disciplinary approach


They will build excellent local partnerships including, but not limited to, treatment teams, statutory mental health services, and safeguarding teams to improve outcomes for the clients accessing the service.


Working within SHP's policy and procedural framework, the worker will carry out a comprehensive assessment of needs and risks in agreed timescales.

On-going high quality support plans & risk assessments will then be drafted and reviewed on a regular basis.


The Lead Worker will also provide support to manage referrals coming into the service, ensuring that they meet the service criteria and are assessed and allocated in a timely way.


What we're looking for in our Lead Worker:

  • An understanding of the principles underlying a quality service and participation of clients to continuously improve the service.
  • Understanding and experience of working with the issues faced by people who experience mental ill health, substance use issues, and who have offending histories, in accessing the appropriate support from services.
  • Ability to develop relationships with people who find it difficult to engage; to engage and work with clients who may have a low level of interaction with services and who may be sceptical about their value
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and positively influence a variety of audiences, including senior officers and multiagency partners, both verbally and in writing
  • High level of personal organisation with the ability to plan and prioritise own work
