    The Role

    This role exists to provide the detailed technical input to the sub project/ section and ensure works and temporary works are safe and meet the specification prior to implementation. Paying particular attention to site safe systems of work, the engineer will be accustomed to delivering work within agreed timescales and budgets.

    This role is aimed to contribute to the achievement of Byrne Bros safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe working practices and occurrences, and to actively engage the construction team in the implementation of demand fulfilment in their area.

    Key Responsibilities

    • To establish and implement site systems and controls consistent with company and project requirements including, quality systems and company engineering standards;
    • To ensure all relevant information concerning specifications are conveyed to the construction team in a timely and accurate manner;
    • To verify there is sufficiently detailed design information available prior to construction of the works and resolve technical issues with designers;
    • To identify temporary works requirements and produce or manage the production of detailed and accurate temporary works designs;
    • To identify and produce non-conformance reports and ensure close out of non- conformance;
    • To coordinate and manage the close out of all contract documentation and the sign off of all QA documentation;
    • To plan programme requirements and manage and assess the site engineering staff required to deliver the programme of work;
    • To secure materials and plant necessary to meet specifications and planned programme of work;
    • To provide a focus for buildability assessments of the design and to identify improvement in efficiency of construction;
    • To ensure the production and communication of risk assessment and methods statements to the site supervision;
    • To ensure the effective use of services, products and subcontracts within the section/ project;
    • To manage storage of Project documents on QED system. This includes but is not limited to method statements, risk assessments, RFIs, technical submittals, temporary work design briefs, site photos, site sketches, task briefings etc;
    • To ensure that temporary works are installed, inspected, used and dismantled in accordance with BBF procedure;
    • To manage handover process from other subcontractors and after completion of BBF works;
    • To maintain accurate daily records on activities, operations and issues encountered on site;
    • To ensure that any required activities which fall outside the remit of the agreed contract are highlighted to the Project Manager as either an EWN or NCE as soon as identified;
    • Using the surveying equipment, mark out or set out the key reference points, lines, and levels according to the design specifications;
    • Collaborate with Construction Team. Communicate changes , marked points and layout information effectively to the construction team, including contractors, subcontractors, and supervisors. Address any questions or concerns related to the layout promptly;
    • Awareness of Environmental issues within the construction company environment and the Environmental Manual policy and objectives;
    • Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety issues within the construction company environment and the Byrne Group OH&S policy statement and objectives.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field;
    • Temporary Works Coordinator
    • Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry;
    • Strong leadership and people management skills;
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities;
    • Thorough understanding of Health and Safety regulations with the ability to manage and mitigate risk;
    • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively;
    • Sound knowledge of construction regulations and best practices;
    • Proficiency in computer software applications and document control systems.
