    Default job background
    Description

Research Analyst, Multi-Commodity, Entry Level role

    Full Time, London/Remote

    Description

You will join Benchmark's fast-growing Strategic Initiatives Division, sitting within the newly formed Critical Minerals & Multi-Commodity Team, as a multi-commodity analyst. Together with the Product Director of Critical Minerals and Multi-Commodity, you will be tasked with establishing an innovative approach to the analysis and representation of critical mineral data relating specifically to the Energy transition. With the primary aim of developing Benchmark's burgeoning Multi-Commodity analysis capabilities and acting as a bridge between Energy Transition Commodities and Clean Energy Business Units, you will be required to be able to work across multiple objectives at any given time. With few cross-commodity models, capabilities, and systems currently in existence, you will work together with the Multi-Commodity team with a blank canvas to formulate your research approach on, and will not be constrained by any legacy analytical framework. After establishing and maintaining core databases and forecast files, there will be a requirement for the wider team to begin producing written analysis, in the form of thought-pieces, adhoc white papers and research notes.

You will work closely with the Product Director of Critical Minerals and Multi-Commodity, the Clean Energy Team as well as the wider forecasting division, to help provide a rounded view of critical mineral demand relating to the energy transition. At a later date, you will provide crucial support in the development of a Multi-Commodity central service, which will serve as a centralisation of cross-commodity knowledge and models for both internal (cross-team) use and client-facing products. It is key that the Multi-Commodity Analyst is a driven individual with a strong capacity for independent thought, so that this central service can be developed in the best way possible.

A Multi-Commodity Analyst may take ownership over such a service over time. It is key that you are a motivated individual with an eagerness to understand the importance of critical minerals in the global energy transition, and are driven to learn more and develop and extend the company knowledge and product base. As part of your role, you will be given the opportunity to travel, become a recognised global authority on the topics you cover, interact with senior management from leading companies in the industry, and regularly speak to and be quoted by various media organisations. Benchmark is a fast-growing organisation so there will also be opportunities for progression and job development. In your role you will directly report to the Product Director of Critical Minerals and Multi-Commodity.

    • Ability to construct a compelling narrative and have the confidence to express and defend it through both internal and external publications.

    • Naturally organised and self-motivated individual capable of managing stakeholders as the business unit continues to expand.

    • Be willing to represent Benchmark at industry leading events (physically and virtually).

    • To work within the start-up culture and mentality of Team Benchmark, which can require continuing to operate and undertake day to day duties across various time zones and outside normal business hours when travelling abroad.
