Description

Founded in 2014, InstaDeep is today an EMEA leader in decision-making AI products for the Enterprise, with headquarters in London, and offices in Paris, Berlin, Tunis, Lagos, Dubai, Cape Town, San Francisco, and Cambridge, MA.

InstaDeep has been named among the Top 100 global AI startups for three consecutive years by CB Insights and one of the 100 most promising B2B companies in Europe by Sifted.

Working with clients who lead their fields, we have created a challenging, exciting environment that will require you to develop inventive solutions using contemporary research and cutting-edge technologies.

In our mission to stay ahead of the curve we are proud to partner with firms such as BioNTech SE, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA and Intel and world-class universities including MIT, Oxford, UCL and Imperial College London.

We are an NVIDIA Elite Service Delivery Partner and a Google Cloud Partner.

As a Computational RNA Geneticist you will be part of the BioAI Team (UK or France).

You will use your expertise in transcriptomics/functional RNA research to contribute to InstaDeep's efforts in uncovering the mechanisms that drive transcription and translation.

Your work will directly contribute to the development of mRNA vaccines in collaboration with our partners. One of your goals will be to help the RNA team understand the intricate relationship between RNA and cancer.

Working in small, typically international teams of specialists, you will act as a scientific authority as well as personally contributing to the development of new algorithms, software tools, and benchmarks to enable InstaDeep to study the structural and functional landscape of RNA molecules inside the Eukaryotic cells.

Your domain expertise will be required to identify signatures of transcription/translation and cancer progression.

Your work will involve contributing to the development of machine learning methods to process and interpret large RNA datasets and the computational integration of omics and functional RNA data (alternative splicing, mRNA transport and stability) into InstaDeep's infrastructure.

Your efforts will directly address open questions in translational biology and contribute to the advancement of the scientific community in the field of RNA research.

The Computational Geneticist must accomplish the following:

  • Deliver high-quality research and engineering in the domain of human genomics as part of multi-disciplinary collaborative teams.
  • Act as an authority in the relevant science and literature to provide guidance, oversight, and intuition to team members and in deciding research directions.
  • Follow, understand, and share the latest relevant developments in both biology and machine learning.
  • Develop pipelines to process, assess quality and analyse omics data, including NGS, transcriptomic and epigenetic data.
  • Design and execute statistical analyses to integrate genetics and omics data with machine learning algorithms.
  • Use publicly available functional genomics resources to support internal research and development.
  • Present research results on a regular basis, both internally and to customers.
  • Contribute new ideas, challenge assumptions, be bold but pragmatic with research decisions.

Requirements:

  • PhD in ribogenetics, nucleic acid research, functional genomics, computational biology, or related field or master's degree with 3+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Strong coding in Python and keen desire to develop your engineering skills.
  • Experience with machine learning or familiarity and a strong desire to learn.
  • Experience with integrating public resources such as Ensembl, RefSeq, Human Protein/Cell Atlas, Expression Atlas, ENCODE into readytouse workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Exceptional motivation, attention to detail, and selfreliance (in a supportive team).

Desirable:

  • Experience with GWAS analyses, Polygenic Risk Scores, and variant prioritization.
  • Familiarity with commonly used software packages for RNAseq data processing and QTL mapping.
  • Experience with deep learning technologies applied to biology research.
  • Publication record in the field of genetics or functional genomics.
