Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) have an exciting opportunity as a Clinical Team Lead within the Torbay Drug and Alcohol Service.

This role will manage a team of qualified staff including nurses, social workers and support staff to deliver pharmacological and psychosocial interventions for the service.


This role will be based at Shrublands House in Torquay supporting a partnership approach to working between Devon Partnership Trust and TSDFT.

The service is currently undergoing exciting change and moving into an Multiple Complex Needs Alliance with Torbay Domestic Abuse services and with the local Homelessness Hostel.

You will have experience working within the substance misuse field and support the management and supervision of junior staff. You will oversee and chair clinical meetings and ensure expert and clinical knowledge are provided to staff.

  • Line manage identified drug and alcohol staff and embed through supervision, the delivery of evidence based interventions provided by the service for drug and alcohol users ensuring that high standards of care are achieved and maintained
  • Provide regular supervision line management, clinical and professional (where appropriate) to Recovery Coordinators and other staff employed within the service
  • Perform a full range of management duties including sickness absence management, investigation of complaints and incidents arising within the service, leading on appropriately identified projects and workstreams and providing reports within agreed timescales.
  • Support and advise staff in their work with hazardous, harmful and dependent drinkers and drug users
  • Lead, with support from the Human Resources department investigations and other processes to successfully resolve disciplinary matters and performance issues, carrying out investigations and involvement in hearings in accordance with relevant Trust policies and procedures
  • Deputise in the absence of the Service Manager when required to ensure the effective delivery of services
  • Chair appropriate identified meetings within the service, including clinical meetings within both the drug and alcohol services


Working as part of TSDFT you will be joining a service due to move into a partnership known as Torbay Recovery initiatives in February 2023.

This partnership includes Devon Partnership Trust, EDP Drug and Alcohol service, TSDFT and Jatis (our local residential rehab provider).

We offer a flexible approach to working within the service combining a hybrid approach of office based working alongside some home working as appropriate to the role.
