    Job summary

    We are looking for a Housekeeper to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Centre at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

    The Trauma and Orthopaedic ward is a very busy department and the successful candidate must have excellent communication skills in order to successfully provide assistance to the team and its patients.

    Along with your GCSE's in Maths and English (grade 9 - 4 or equivalent), you must have experience in a similar role. Experience of working within healthcare is desirable.

    The successful candidate will be expected to assist the ward with ordering stock, assisting in delivering catering to patients and ensuring the ward is clean and tidy so that the ward is a safe environment at all times.

    Main duties of the job

  • Answer the telephone, relay messages accurately and welcome visitors to the ward.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Be aware of and support individual, religious and psychological needs.
  • Liaise with other departments as requested.
  • Help with patient communication.
  • Liaise with Senior Housekeeper.
  • Support other members of directorate Housekeeper team.

    We are a 24 bedded Trauma and Orthopaedic ward based on Ward 32 T&O. We also have a small assessment area that can cater for up to 6 additional patients. We are a busy and friendly ward caring for patients with various trauma and orthopaedic injuries. We are looking an individual who will enhance our amazing team. The role of the Housekeeper provides a 7 day service which will be shared with another member of staff.

  • Work experience

  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Computer skills

  • Experience in NHS work
  • To have a basic knowledge of a hospital environment and infection control
  • Knowledge of Oracle ordering system
