DS Smith is a global leader in sustainable packaging and are building a revolutionary CX team for which they are looking for a Design Manager to completely redefine how they manage they interact and engage with customers throughout their end-to-end journey.

Your role would be to redesign strategic parts of the customer journey based on customer insights.

You will design (with an agency or self) and support development of human centric innovative CX solutions (digital and non-digital) that solve customer problems.

As well as develop design artefacts and standards that will ensure consistency of customer experiences across markets and support their local design processes.

This role would be perfect for someone with experience of designing UX interactions and creatingsolutions for complex CX problems.


You will be joining the team tasked with designing, developing and delivering customer experiences that will redefine packaging for a changing world.

My client has several programmes that will be delivered over the next 3+ years to support an ambitious agenda and CX global strategy will be at the centre of delivering regional benefits for thebusiness.

You will be a part of defining the global CX strategy for the business and be hands-on in implementing this in overseas customer markets.


What will you be doing?

  • You will lead to innovate the customer experience at scale. These projects can be initiated by global insights or by identifying scalable local CX initiatives. You will work to promote these innovations internationally.
  • Be the design SME and support local initiatives whilst generating guidance to ensure alignment to global insights.
  • Lead and support any UX research, facilitating workshops, prototyping, testing etc.
  • Develop design principles that set standards for local CX improvement designs, to ensure consistent highquality and on brand interaction design.
  • Support the design and development of a dynamic digital platform for local/regional teams ensuring alignment to developing CX standards.
  • Help to define the global CX strategy of the business, and work with international stakeholders to understand local challenges and opportunities to grow. Communicate effectively with colleagues to implement CX strategy consistently across the global business.

What are we looking for?

  • BSc or equivalent experience in Design/Business/Product Development.
  • Hands on experience in service/UX/CX lead designer as well as up to date knowledge of (UX) design processes, software, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience designing and developing digital CX solutions in a complex IT landscape, ideally in a businesstobusiness environment.
  • Proven ability to develop design artefacts, ideas, flows, design principles and propositions that deliver a compelling brand experience consistently across different markets/business units.
  • An understanding of the customer experience journey and experience within process optimisation, particularly in tooling employees to conduct process improvements.
