    Description

    We currently have an interesting opportunity for a Claims Operations Assistant to provide administrative support to the Claims team. The role will be based in either Newcastle Upon Tyne or in London.

    You will assist with the efficient claims operations and administration of the different geographical and specialty sectors, ensuring that the interests of members and the company are protected and reflect the company ethos by providing service excellence to Members and colleagues.

    Using your experience of Microsoft desktop applications such as Excel and PDF editing programmes you ensure that members and policy holders have a timely and positive experience for the processing of their claims by supporting the back-office processes and claims handlers.

    What will you be doing?

    Your main duties will include but are not limited to:

    Payments

    • Sending claims credit and debit notes to members.
    • Investigating member and policy holder queries.
    • Investing claims on our claims systems.
    • Assisting with payment enquiries from the claims teams / finance department / service providers
    • Calculating debit note amounts to ensure amounts raised are correct.
    • Ensuring members with special requirements have been dealt with in an appropriate manner.
    • Editing and updating internal files with member/policy holder information.
    • Owner of the debit and credit note distribution process on the incumbent Claims system.
    • Processing fee invoices / claim reimbursement requests and issue credit and debit notes as appropriate, across the different geographical and specialty sectors.
    • Ensuring that payment supporting documentation, correspondence and documents are saved and filed to relevant filing system appropriately to aid reference and retrieval for the Finance and Claims teams.

    Claims Management Assistance

    • Claims administration tasks relating to internal systems.
    • Compiling and providing claims reports, listings and reviews.

    Miscellaneous

    • Processing dictation (Newcastle and where agreed as part of role).
    • Carrying out searches to see whether we provided cover in previous policy years, to assist claims handlers on older Occupational Disease claims directed to the club.
    • Editing and amending documents.

    Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience

    • Intermediate to advanced experience of using Microsoft Office e.g. Excel pivot tables, vlookups
    • Comfortable operating with quickly-changing priorities.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Ability to work with, compile, extract and edit PDF documents
    • Ability to work well as part of a team.
    • Confidence to liaise at a senior level and build strong business relationships.
    • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Well organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
    • Pragmatic approach to solving problems.
    • Willingness to "own" tasks and see them through to completion.
