    Employer Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust Location Sutton, Carshalton Salary £64,408 to £73,961 per annum pr incl HCAS (outer) Closing date 27 May 2024

    The post holder will

    To plan, develop, monitor and direct a substantial programme of specialised strategic activity to ensure the Trust meets the requirements of:
    • The NHS Carbon Reduction Strategy for England (SDU
    • Sustainable Development Management Plan and Good Corporate Citizen Assessment Model.
    • The Climate Change Act 2008.
    • Carbon Reduction Commitment.
    • Manage the Trust's overall energy budget.
    • Collect, collate, record and manage energy consumption figures.
    • To monitor and review all Utilities used within the Trust and to ensure all possible savings are made.
    • Manage Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) and European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) returns on behalf of the Trust.
    • Invoice validation Management.
    • Promote energy awareness
    • Manage Display Energy Certification and TM 44
    • Develop and write Energy Reports
    Main duties of the job Manage the trusts energy budget Write energy reports as required Collate data and information for the Trusts Annual Reports, both financial and non-financial on the trusts ERIC returns and other reports. Own areas of the Green Plan and produce feasibility studies on implementation of areas of Green Plan Reduce trust carbon admissions Validating all Utilities invoicing Lead on the implementation of energy related project on the Green Plan Monitor the utilities element of the Green Plan ensuring that it is meeting expectations Identify and secure grants and other income for improvement works related to energy projects Arrange and deliver internal workshops and events related to the trusts utilities forward plan Development of the Green Plan in relation to utilities. To provide support to the Trusts business continuity plan. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • oProfessional knowledge acquired through Higher National Certificate in Engineering or equivalent plus specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level or equivalent knowledge and experience:
    Desirable
    • oRegistration with a relevant professional body oUp-to-date CPD
    Experience Essential
    • oTo have completed a full recognized apprenticeship in Building/Engineering services oTo have at least 5 years relevant experience of managing utilities oExperience managing complex technical issues within a sensitive environment oTo have experience in managing meetings oManagement experience including the responsibility for achieving targets oExperience in developing new programs and implementation of major projects
    Desirable
    • oTo have experience in working within healthcare premises oSignificant experience of relevant policy and strategy development and implementation oExperience of participation in corporate and strategic forums and external representation oExperience of effective team work within a multi-disciplinary team
    Knowledge Essential
    • oTo have a sound knowledge of green energy oBeing able to interpret engineering drawings and O& Ms oStrong knowledge of budgetary control and procurement procedures oInterpretation of data and utalise to produce reports.
    Desirable
    • oTo have a sound knowledge in HTM, and HBNs oTo have a sound basic knowledge of hot and cold water systems oTo have a sound knowledge of heating systems oTo have a sound knowledge of refrigeration systems oTo have a sound knowledge of CHP
    Skills Essential
    • oTo have the ability to provide technical advice and knowledge to a multi-skilled workforce. o You have knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role oYou are able to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role, oAble to provide a customer focussed service oTo have a full understanding of Health and Safety at Work legislation. oStrong team and personal organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines, to act from individuals to large groups oTo be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment ensuring all paperwork, drawings and reports are correct. oProven record of successfully negotiating, remaining open to suggestions, whilst significantly influencing outcomes oReach sound judgments after careful and systematic evaluation of relevant facts oPromote and manage positive change as a means of continuous improvement oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
    Desirable
    • oTo be qualified and certificated in IOSH Management oAbility to analyses complex problems and to develop and workable solutions to address them. oA strong, inspiring, engaging and collaborative leader. Able to demonstrate a variety of leadership styles oBe able to undertake light physical efforts, able to work at height. oBe able to develop productive working relationships with staff groups, colleagues and all potential partners in the service delivery oDevelop a clear and long term vision which is aligned with future demands and external influences oTo have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

    • oHas a good understanding of policies and procedures governing their area of work. oAble to work autonomously oAble to demonstrate that you are honest, reliable and trustworthy oTreat patients, visitors, colleagues with respect oAbility to travel between Trust sites oAbility to be flexible to meet the needs of the team, the service and the Trust oTo have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills oTo be able to work on own initiative and without direct supervision oTo be able to take a lead role in meetings with contractors and Trust staff. oWork in unpleasant conditions for example undercroft, and sewage lines oTo carry out any other duties within the scope of the post that may be required from time to time
