What you will enjoy doing

You will prepare, fill and analyse a wide range of products including complex mixtures (e.g., toxic; corrosive; flammable; oxidant; Flamm/ox; inert) in high pressure cylinders safely, efficiently and to stringent quality standards including ISO Guide 34 and ISO 1702
These mixtures are used in a variety of complex processes where errors on behalf of the SGF Operators could result in significant losses (£M's) to the customer and to BOC
In addition, you will fill pure gases, gaseous and liquid mixtures to production order recipes from a database of over 25,000. These may include calibration reference standards, Flamm/ox and highly toxic mixtures
In addition, you will follow an analytical approach to problem solving such that root causes for nonconformances are understood. With this understanding the filling techniques and capability can be continuously improved
On a daily basis you will analyse, quantify and certify a vast range of complex gaseous and liquid mixtures that comply with the requirements of ISO Guide 34 and ISO This involves the development of new GLC methods within restricted time constraints and often without referral to other technical experts

You have experience in analytical techniques
An understanding of how the filling of complex mixtures can be affected by the properties and potential impurities of over 300 raw materials is an essential part of the process
The complexity of the different tasks within the role mean that it would take up to 5yrs before an operator would be considered fully trained
