Salary Full Time:
£26,421 - £28,770 (annualised hours 45hrs per week)


Salary Pro Rata:
£15,852 - £17,261 (annualised hours 27hrs per week)


Hours:


Annualised hours, equivalent to 34.5hrs per term time week to include weekends and cover for absence on occasions as required.


Regular shift pattern:
Friday 2pm-11pm (with a 30 minute break)

Saturday 7am-11pm (with a 4 hour break)

Sunday 7am-11pm (with a 4 hour break)

Monday 7am-9am


There are 'home weekends' during the academic year - approximately six - which are not worked, in addition to College holiday weekends.

This is accounted for within the annualised hours and will be discussed at interview.


Sleep ins:
Between 1-3 sleeps in per week (to be discussed at interview). Additional payment for sleeping in (£40.76 each)

To supervise and support staff to work with students in a proficient and sensitive manner that will enhance both their academic and social development.

Part time role of 34.5hrs per week, to be worked from 14.00 on Fridays to 09.00 on Mondays, term time only (please see JD/PS for full details).

Scale 5, SCP12-17, £26,421-£28770fte, pro rata salary £15,582-£17,261


Within the role of Residential Site Lead you will manage a collaborative Care team to provide a high standard of care to children and young people with a vision impairment.

You will foster a positive environment for the delivery of the waking day curriculum and ensure high quality of documentation with the Care team.

As their Line Manager you will supervise the support staff to work with students in a proficient and sensitive manner, that will enhance both their academic and social development.


Main Tasks:


  • To work flexibly across the site and the residential houses to manage the delivery of a comprehensive care programme appropriate to the individual students. To safeguard and promote the health and welfare of the students, ensuring that they are cared for and supported in the residential house, by a team of professional Care staff, following the guidelines as laid down by legislation, the current National Minimum Care Standards for Residential Special Schools, professional care practice and NCW's policies and procedures.
  • To line manage the Residential Key Workers setting objectives, monitoring performance, completing regular supervisions and appraisals and ensuring accurate and professional records are kept in accordance with College policies. To collaborate with College and senior Care staff to allocate Key Workers to students, ensuring this aligns with College structures.
  • To monitor the care staff rotas and organise staff cover where required in preparation for senior care staff/SLT to sign off.
  • To support with the recruitment and induction process for new Care staff. To ensure that all required induction documentation is completed on time.
  • To be responsible for quality assuring Care plans, Risk Assessments, Key working and Support Session notes and other paperwork as may be directed to a high standard in accordance with published quality assurance deadlines. To highlight issues to senior Care management.
  • To be responsible for Risk Assessments for all Activities and to write the Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans for each student.
  • To attend annual reviews and other interim reviews for students and other student related meetings as may be required.
  • To work in collaboration with College to manage the delivery of the waking day curriculum and to liaise with education staff over student progress.
The waking day curriculum includes developing students' independent living skills, involving amongst others:
skills training in personal hygiene, nutrition and self-catering, general skills required in managing money and personal safety. It also includes support with mobility, homework and developing effective morning and evening routines.
