    Description

    Summary of main purpose of Role

    To deliver high quality teaching and learning (including tutorials) and undertake the full range of associated administration, quality, preparation and assessment processes on a range of courses as agreed with the Head of Department, including individual tutoring, to ensure that students' needs are met in a responsive way.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

    1. To ensure high quality and inspirational learning and teaching, and a positive experience for the learner.
    2. Maintaining academic standards and motivation and being aware of curriculum developments.
    3. Producing schemes of work and participating in teams connected with course design, assessment and monitoring.
    4. Maintaining high standards of achievement, behaviour, discipline and punctuality.
    5. Involvement in student recruitment, interviewing, induction and pastoral support.
    6. Acting as a course tutor to appropriate student groups.
    7. Carrying out the necessary administrative tasks.
    8. To ensure appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.
    9. Undertaking course leadership responsibilities as required.
    10. Participating in staff development training projects or programmes on subjects relating to teaching and learning,
    11. To work flexibly and carry out additional roles within the college as may be agreed from time to time.

    Other Responsibilities

    In common with all other employees of the College, the post holder is expected to:

    1. Perform duties to a high standard and to ensure that the quality assurance processes are implemented successfully across the College, particularly those relating to their own role.
    2. Have a personal responsibility for Health and Safety.
    3. Participate in and make an appropriate contribution to the College's planning and review processes.
    4. Take a pro-active role in the maintenance of acceptable standards of student behaviour.
    5. Contribute to the development of the Strategic Plan and to the achievement of the objectives contained therein.
    6. Make a full contribution to the Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding agendas.
    7. Keep up-to-date with issues affecting their role and contribute to staff development activity.
    8. Attend external and internal events as required to promote the College.
    9. Comply with College financial regulations and standing orders.
    10. Comply with all legislation affecting the College and / or the particular job role, and to work in accordance with all College policies and procedures.

    Standard responsibilities for all positions in NCG:

    1. Participate in any staff review/performance management processes involving the identifying and meeting of training needs for self and others.
    2. Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others.
    3. Pursue the achievement and integration of equal opportunities throughout all activities
    4. Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of this post.
    5. Comply with all NCG policies and procedures.
