You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, whilst maintaining our Trust values - Caring, Ambitious, Respectful and Supportive.
This Trainee Senior HCSW role is a Band 2 to Band 3 development role for candidates who have an existing Level 3 Qualification ( A Levels, NVQ Level 3). Experience in a care role would be an advantage but not essential. Please note we are unable to offer sponsorship for this position.
Senior HCSW role is a Band 3 role and previous healthcare experience, a Level 3 Healthcare qualification and completion of functional skills are an essential requirement for direct entry into this role.
Main duties of the job
Working as a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. You will be working alongside a Registered Nurse to provide essential nursing care and helping your patients with daily living tasks such as:
Upon successful completion of clinical skills training, as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker, you will also be expected to carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, including:
Whilst completing these tasks, the underlining aim is to deliver high-quality patient care at all times.
About us

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
Please see the job description attached for a full list of role responsibilities.
North Bristol NHS Trust is committed to offering excellent career development through tailored education pathways:
If you have no care experience - you will complete our Principles of Care induction programme, which includes the Care Certificate. You will commence your Senior Healthcare Support Worker development programme once you have sufficent experience and are ready to learn the clinical skills required for this role. This will be a minimum of 5 months into your career at NBT. Our learning and development team may recommend an apprenticeship as the most suitable pathway however this will be discussed with you during induction.
If you have at least 6 months care experience - on starting with us, you will go through a Senior Healthcare Support development programme. The length of this training will be determined by your experience, qualifications and readiness to perform clinical duties, but could be in little as 8 weeks. Our learning and development team may recommend an apprenticeship as the most suitable pathway however this will be discussed with you during your induction.
