Histotechnologist
who wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow.
This position is a temporary role for approximately 12 months to work a Tuesday - Saturday day shift.

**Position
Summary**: Under general supervision of the Senior Operations Manager, the Histotechnologist II will precisely and accurately perform a variety of routine and specialized histology techniques and procedures. The Histotechnologist II will research, troubleshoot, and resolve histology related inquiries and problems within the laboratory. This position requires the production of the highest quality of embedding, microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue processing, H&E staining, special staining and IHC staining.

This is an intermediate level role in Histotechnologist job category.

Employees in this position perform a full range of technical procedures in the preparation of tissue specimens for Histology, IHC and MultiOmyx.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Receives specimens of tissue and ensures proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples
  • Processes paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting
  • Performs routine and nonroutine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to established SOP's
  • Prepares tissue specimens with chemicals, slicing, and mounting on glass slides for microscopic examination and analysis
  • Embeds processed tissue in paraffin
  • Performs fresh tissue grossing and tissue processing
  • Performs cover slipping of stained slides either manually or automated
  • Performs all special stain procedures according to established guidelines
  • Performs IHC staining on all automated platforms
  • Performs filing of finished blocks and slides
  • Helps maintain acceptable productivity, TAT and workflow
  • Reports problems concerning individual cases, tests, equipment, and supplies to the department supervisor or lead technologist to ensure timely resolution
  • Responds promptly to pathologists, technologists, and administrative requests

Education:

Associates degree in the field and complete a one-year internship or complete a long-term training program in a histopathology lab


Experience:


  • A minimum of four (4) years of equivalent experience as a Histotechnologist preferred

Qualification Requirements:


  • Solid understanding of general laboratory techniques with emphasis on department specific techniques
  • Possesses appropriate computer skills to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, multitasking environment and maintain production and quality standards
