Our client is an award winning and highly customer focussed mortgage provider based in Wimborne, Dorset. They are looking for an Arrears Officer to join their Mortgage Services team on full time, permanent basis.


The main purpose of the Arrears Officer is to support customers of the business who find themselves in financial difficult, maintaining ongoing compliance with internal, regulatory and compliance requirements.


You will be dealing with customer who may not be in arrears but due to an identified vulnerability require specialist support to maintain mortgage payments.


Responsibilities Include:


  • Understanding the needs of customers in financial difficulty, finding the most appropriate solution/payment option to support them
  • Ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures are followed and work within approved authority level at all times.
  • Administration of cases through the repossession process, including instructing and liaising with third parties
  • Ensure all contact, communications and agreements with customers meet regulatory, legal, company and TCF requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure the timely identification and escalation of arrears issues to Credit Committee ensuring all supporting records and recommendations are fully and accurately recorded
  • Prepare monthly Arrears reports as required by the business
  • Maintain continuous knowledge and awareness of industry, legal and regulatory developments impacting arrears management and making recommendations to alter policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Identify, Support and Assist vulnerable customers and understand their need for flexibility.

Experience/qualifications required:


  • Mortgage arrears handling experience within a financial services/banking environment
  • Experience in dealing with customers in vulnerable circumstances
  • Excellent time management skills and to be able to manage and make effective decisions as and when required.
  • Possess strong negotiation and problemsolving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience
  • Mathematics qualification to a minimum GCSE level
