The QI Clinical Fellow is a role in which you will develop and project manage the member support programmes for QI and Patient Safety, including development of QI and patient safety resources, development and delivery of targeted training programmes, and the development and delivery of an assurance programme for 'Quality QI' in care for children and young people and their families.

Activity within the QI team includes
- sharing and guiding QI and patient safety resources;
- targeted quality improvement training; and

the delivery of structured QI programmes.

As an influential member of the team, you will work closely with the Head of Quality Improvement, Clinical Lead for QI and patient safety, and other senior clinicians and members of relevant College committees and project boards.

You will lead on a development and delivery of targeted training programmes that fill gaps in training provision for QI and patient safety in paediatrics.

You will also work in partnership with the Health of Quality Improvement to develop and deliver an assurance process for 'Quality QI' to align QI to principles for good quality improvement including coproduction with children and young people and their families.

Passionate about improving outcomes for child health, you will have completed at least 3 years of paediatrics training and obtained your MRCPCH.

With the ability to work collaboratively with senior healthcare leaders and lead on innovative new research and improvement activities in patient safety and children and young people's engagement, you will optimise the impact and reach of the RCPCH and assist in identifying the potential for future expansion of its work.

Responsibilities:

Stay up to date and consult on issues concerning paediatric QI and patient safety, including medicines safety, and children and young people's engagement activity, as raised by members, key stakeholders and regulators.

Work closely with the RCPCH Head of QI, Clinical Lead for QI and patient safety and other senior clinicians, and attend relevant meetings concerning issues relating to patient safety and children and young people's engagement.

Work with colleagues in the Education and Training Directorate to incorporate patient safety and QI learning into paediatrics training curricula.
Ensure timely dissemination of learning from network meetings and where appropriate, relay and share this in accessible language to stakeholders and patient groups using a wide range of electronic media.
Act as an advocate for the projects through representing and promoting QI and patient safety at meetings and conferences.
Identify opportunities to promote the projects' work including on social media platforms, and publications in medical academia.
Explore research opportunities using data analytics associated with the Patient Safety Portal and QI Central platforms and shared learning from other QI projects.
Support the creation of new and/or revised patient safety and QI resources using available RCPCH online platforms.
Ensure timely review of patient safety resources and information in liaison with the Head of QI, members of the Clinical Quality in Practice Committee and College Officers, so all published information is up to date and accurate.
Lead in the development of new patient safety and QI initiatives and tools e.g. safety checklists for parents/carers, guidance on safe hospital discharge, improving access to educational resources on high-risk adverse events, engagement in service shaping checklists and developing training initiatives for clinicians.
Support the Clinical Quality in Practice Committee, Medicines Committee, Engagement Committee and associated working groups including the preparation of highlight reports, meeting papers and other relevant documentation as part of your work.
Undertake training on website, webinar and podcast development to expand the RCPCH portfolio of resources.
