JOB TITLE Senior Actuarial AnalystReports To:
Head of Actuarial
MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB
The role has arisen as a result of a recent drive to enhance our internal actuarial capability.
In this highly visible role within a leading insurance broker, you will employ your actuarial expertise to contribute to the achievement of business objectives,liaising with senior management and capacity providers.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Analysis:
- Carry out regular reviews of risk price, demand and market models
- Produce analysis of Claims performance, identifying trends and features, which includes the interpretation and communication of suitable recommendations to Senior Management
- Enhance the team's capabilities by undertaking automation projects and adoption of new software, tools and techniques in analytics.
- Working on ad hoc pricing projects with the overall aim of having a direct impact on profitability
- Leading the department's thinking in the proactive use of available data to support the Underwriting and Claims functions in making effective and informed business decisions
- Assist in the development, maintenance and interpretation of relevant MI in relation to the company's underwriting performance and pricing strength
- Communicate analysis and make recommendations to Underwriters, Claims Managers and Senior Management
Reporting:
- Support the maintenance of monthly Management Information packs for key measures and factors
- Provide regular reports and analysis in a timely manner
- Gather market information and collate for circulation within the business
General:
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities that are reasonably required by your line manager, working flexibly across other areas of the business
- To ensure that FCA and other regulatory requirements are met
- 2+ Years in an actuarial analyst or pricing capacity
- Experience with Earnix price optimization software
- A degree in mathematics/statistics or equivalent
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills, especially in Excel
- Skills in database and programming packages, for example, SQL, R, Python, etc.
- Ability to manage time effectively, demonstrate a high level of organisational skills and ability to prioritise work
- ResQ experience
- Knowledge of current Motor Insurance perils and rating factors
- An understanding of emerging themes in the industry
- Logical thinker with a professional and positive attitude
- Must be able to work in a busy dynamic environment
