Health, Safety & Environment Manager - Oldham - £70,000
My Oldham based client is looking for a Health, Safety & Environment Manager on a full-time permanent basis.
This role has responsibility for the Health, Safety & Environment agenda across a site of approximately 1500 people, and has a team of 3 reporting.
You will be tasked with providing clear leadership for the development of legally compliant HSE systems, driving a culture across the site for continuous improvement, promoting a safe work environment for our employees & site visitors.
Responsibilities
- Drive an engaged HSE culture across the site at all levels
- Lead a Health and Safety team to deliver a clear agenda of prioritised activities, with focus on YOY improvements
- Coordination and administration of health, safety and environmental procedures and systems
- Own the KPI tracking system to be audit ready at all times with functional updates on a daily basis
- Help record and investigate accident and near miss incidents, liaising with various departments and insurers as required
- Identify and coordinate health and safety training requirements
- Chair HSE Meetings with crossfunctional attendance to drive a 'one team' approach with proactive action tracking
- Follow and assist in the evaluation of current safety systems updating them as required, and assisting in the timely implementation of new or changes to policies, procedures and practices
- Keeping up to date with new and changes in legislation, that affect the business and its employees. Providing specialist advice and support to managers as required
- Tracking of energy/environmental opportunities, with key lead in improvement activities
Attributes
- Demonstrable background in a similar role preferably within an FMCG environment
- Track record of driving a continuous improvement HS&E culture, including ability to drive change through strong leadership & behavioral programmes
- NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
- Environmental & Food Hygiene qualifications such as IEMA certificate etc is preferred
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to manage in all directions, including external parties
