Job purpose


To provide high quality support, mentoring and intervention for individuals and/or small groups of learners, including those with disabilities, disadvantaged and or who are disengaged, so that every learner participates, achieves and progresses in their area of study.


MAIN DUTIES

  • Support learners within the Centre and within the community to engage fully in the opportunities and activities they are timetabled for.
  • Collaborate with their key worker to identify the additional support and intervention activities required, tailoring activities and materials, to enable learners to succeed and achieve.
  • Work with individuals who require targeted support to complete all tasks and activities, supporting learners to develop their knowledge, skills and experience and grow in confidence and independence
  • Identifying barriers to learning and devise and develop a range of appropriate strategies to assist learners in resolving issues or tackling concerns
  • Put together learners portfolios, provide feedback to learners, provide information for and be part of learners progress reviews, keep accurate records and some administration where appropriate to the learners.
  • Work as part of the team to devise creative approaches to overcoming barriers, engaging learners, developing the content and delivery of sessions, and assisting with the promotion and success of the programme's we run.
  • Supporting learners in developing their self-esteem and confidence
- providing pastoral support and effective impartial information, advice and guidance toward achievement and progression


  • Supporting learners who have medical conditions in accessing all areas as well as the administration of medications where appropriate,
  • Assist learners with any medical health needs while in the centre in line with learners care plans.
  • Ensure that key workers are kept fully informed of learner progress, and support liaison with learners, parents and relevant stakeholders, agencies etc as appropriate, reporting where required
  • Assist in the arrangement of and supervision of work experience placements, support for positive progression and the planning and delivery of enrichment activities so that all aspects of the course requirements are fulfilled
  • Provide specific support to individual learners with special needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan requirement, as agreed with you, supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of learners in line with company policy and person-centered plans
  • To encourage the individual to be actively involved with their learning, positive progression and to reflect their performance on reviews as directed by the keyworker
  • Act as the key worker for identified learners, championing their engagement, attendance, progress and achievement
  • Monitor and support the health, wellbeing and welfare of learners under your supervision, including in respect of safeguarding and any adherence to specified routines or requirement, such as meeting the requirements within an EHCP
  • Provide flexible support to the wider business as reasonably required, fulfilling occasional alternative duties as requested, so that expertise is deployed to meet business priorities at a level consistent with those outlined in this job description

  • Suitable qualification in teaching, mentoring or learning support
