Tree Inspector / Team Leader - Ref: EE00724

Salary: G7 £31,364 - £35,745 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Highways, Transport and Operational services are seeking to recruit a passionate and knowledgeable individual to join our Arboriculture team as Tree Inspector/Team Leader. Walsall is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the beauty of our natural surroundings. As Tree Inspector you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, preservation and increase of tree stock across the Walsall Borough. Core functions including:

To operate and provide services in accordance with the 'Urban Forestry Strategy' for the Council.
The day-to-day surveying of Walsall's tree stock which includes tree risk management decisions and prioritisation.
To make specific recommendations after appropriate inspection on any and all high amenity trees in accordance with all relevant national standards and local policies.
Assist in the management, supervision, and maintenance of the Tree Risk Management programme for the council's tree stock. Walsall's tree stock as individual trees, groups, and woodlands (as in the Urban Forestry Strategy)
The role requires applicants to understand the ability to provide high quality customer service with strong communication skills.

Qualifications:
Arboriculture - Level 3 Tree Inspection Certificate or equivalent
Post holder must attain IOSH accreditation (Institute of Safety & Health) but hold a current appropriate health and safety qualification.
Basic level of information technology / systems
Full UK driving licence
Attain Street Works - Signing, Lighting, Guarding (Supervisor Qualification)
Hours of work:
- 37 hours - Monday to Sunday working, required to work in accordance with local arrangements across the service. Core hours operating between Monday to Friday in the main.
- This post is covered by the Government's Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
