About the Role


As a Wireless Site Surveyor, you will be working at part of a team to carryout site visits on a number of wide scale rural project deployments.

These will consist of site surveys to confirm/agree antenna (cabinet locations, cable routes, (Fibre, CAT5 and Power) as well as the proposed method of fixing to build the sites.


You will be producing a cost-effective site design and associated BOM that is fully compliant with the installation guidelines and H&S Regulations.

Locations are typically in a Rural environment and site types consist of Residential, Commercial, Streetlights, Farm Buildings, Telegraph Poles, and 3rd Party infrastructure.

What you will be responsible for

  • Attending sites to conduct surveys (physical) with the Radio Design Engineers and to interpret the Fixed Wired Access Technical requirements to produce a detailed site survey report.
  • Completing survey documentation job packs: drawings, address listings, bill of materials, confirmation pictures, construction plans and project timescales.
  • Determine the best location for equipment and cable routes and produce site sketches and photo montages showing the proposed equipment in site to gain the appropriate approvals and permissions from the Local Authorities or Site Hosts.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed within the designated time and to a professional standard.
  • Production of sketches and drawings both by hand and through competently utilising various design software packages such as Internal Box to Box Surveying Management System, GIS, Visio, CAD, and Power Point to create professional job packs.
  • Meeting with hosts to resolve any issues preventing the site design receiving approval to move forward.
  • Completing all necessary steps to ensure that wayleaves, permits, reroutes, timescales and agreements are obtained correctly.
  • Produce and maintain reports, spreadsheets, and databases where necessary to facilitate the above tasks.
  • Designs to be in accordance with current design standards and CDM 2015 Regulations and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Provide clear instruction to the project specific delivery teams as to what is required to be delivered on site as part of that deployment.
  • Work with Delivery Manager and Build Team Leads to help build a program of works.
  • Carry out site surveys and searches where required to assist with confirmation of Ownership or Title to ensure the Hosting agreements are signed with the appropriate people.
  • Prepare and issue Site Hosting Agreements as required to speed up site acquisition and to reduce delays in Project Delivery
  • Support the Delivery managers in endtoend governance and driving forward all regional acquisition delivery.
  • Assist with other roles on site when required.
  • Consistently deliver demonstrable highquality services to our Service Users.
  • Regular liaison with site occupiers/Service User and maintain effective communication between teams.
What we are looking for

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of how to interpret site design guidelines and specifications within the Telecoms Sector
  • Good working knowledge of AC/DC residential power systems to produce a good buildable site with the correct power source.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, set and comply with own targets, and identify and implement innovative cost saving solutions.
  • Experienced in identifying and documenting suitable cable routing and installation options.
  • Previous experience in the Field in relation to network site deployments
  • Experienced in dealing with site Acquisition within the Telecoms sector and has some experience in conducting site searches.
  • Has proven experience of effective supplier and stakeholder management.
  • Can identify potential risks and issues related to project rollout and escalate or proactively manage accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and contribute to the production of technical documents for design guides.
  • Can demonstrate Design flair and ability to propose solutions to clients to get over technical/physical issues on site.
  • Compliance with design assurance and audit processes.
  • Supporting and mentoring other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge and experience.
  • Provide an excellent service to the customer.
  • Comply with the requirements of the designer role as determined by the CDM Regulations 201
  • Ensure design eliminates any hazards which may give rise to risks; and reduce risks from any remaining hazards (in conjunction with CDM).
