- To provide Consultant Anaesthetic cover for anaesthesia, elective, and emergency surgeries at UHL, including preoperative assessment and postoperative care.
- To participate in an Anaesthetic On-Call Rota and/or weekend emergency or trauma cover.
- To support the provision of consultant-delivered perioperative care.
- Deliver high-quality anaesthetic services, maintaining a positive attitude towards flexible working.
- Supervise and train junior anaesthetists.
- Collaborate with the acute pain team to offer safe and effective postoperative pain relief to patients.
- Participate in pre-assessment and high-risk clinics.
- Contribute to teaching postgraduates and undergraduates, engage in research, and handle administrative tasks.
- Work with the Clinical Governance team to improve patient safety.
- Display flexibility to help manage the workload of the CMG.
- Ensuring the provision of safe and efficient anaesthetic services for elective and emergency care at UHL, including preoperative and postoperative care.
- Participation in the Consultant Anaesthetist non-resident on-call rota and weekend resident rota.
- Supporting the Consultant-delivered Perioperative Medicine Service.
- Flexibility in supporting colleagues' workload, covering for annual leave and other authorized absences.
- Contributing to service development and business planning in coordination with departmental Consultants, the CMG, local GPs, and commissioners within CCGs.
- Supervising and managing junior medical staff, adhering to local employment and HR policies.
- Engaging in teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as necessary, contributing to medical education activities.
- Participating in medical audit and the Trust's Clinical Governance processes following GMC guidelines.
- Attending CPD opportunities, ensuring all duties meet the highest standards and align with current quality initiatives.
- Undertaking professional continuing medical education, participating in Trust-specific induction and competency programs.
- Maintaining CPD for successful revalidation, including annual appraisal and mandatory training.

- Full GMC registration
- MBBS or Equivalent
- FRCA or Equivalent
- Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligibility for Specialist Register inclusion within 6 months of the interview date or working towards CESR requirements.
- Membership of relevant Specialist Societies or Associations
- Higher degree MSc, MD, or equivalent
- Fully trained in Anaesthesia
- Excellent clinical skills, capable of executing all aspects of the Job Plan
- Ability to apply sound clinical judgment to resolve issues
