We are expanding our practice in London and we seek talented, entrepreneurial recruits who are interested in developing their careers in the Turnaround & Restructuring space to join a Senior Associate.
Working directly with company management, Alvarez & Marsal helps stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvements.
Alvarez & Marsal's involvement reassures creditors that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and maximise its value.
The A&M European Restructuring team has focused on big ticket company side financial and operational restructuring assignments in addition to CRO/CEO/ CFO appointments and, within the last few years, we have delivered on some of Europe's largest restructuring cases such as Abengoa, Edcon, Toys R' US, Nyrstar, Seadrill, Intertoys, Debenhams and Isolux.
You will stabilise core operations by formulating and managing turnaround plans and negotiating with senior management and other key stakeholders.
Working day-to-day alongside our clients, you will develop an in-depth understanding of their processes, financial position and key operational performance drivers.
This understanding is needed in order to create and implement successful restructuring and turnaround initiatives.Main responsibilities:
- Quickly understand a client's rapidly changing situation to enable innovative solutions/options for distressed businesses and their stakeholders
- Company side Restructuring including building 13week cash flow forecasts
- Liquidity management, including understanding the impact of risk, P&L and asset efficiency (working capital) & performance improvement processes
Examples of projects include:
- Financial and Operational Restructuring
- Corporate Turnarounds
- Balance Sheet Restructuring
- Asset Sales
- Cash & liquidity management and forecasting
- Crossborder winddowns
- Preparation and validation of business plans for company management teams
- Independent business reviews
- Short term cash flow forecasting frameworks
- Stakeholder reporting on PMO cost saving initiatives
The person
- Training at a Big 4 firm ideally with experience within the Restructuring or Deals team
- A highly numerate skill set that can include a recognised accountancy qualification or possess a robust understanding of financial and analytical accounting (ratio analysis)
- Experience in building integrated financial models and have strong Excel/PowerPoint skills
- A consulting toolkit including how to frame a business issue, judiciously find and use internal and external data to test hypotheses and draw conclusions, structure and write PowerPoint & Word presentations and reports
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Knowledge of European languages is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Objective, factbased approach to problem solving
