MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Use financial analytical skills to bring underperforming projects to the attention of finance and commercial management at earliest possible stage
  • Ensure costs and recoverable expenses are accurately and promptly accounted for, including an analysis of gains and losses on costs not recovered on a monthly basis
  • Improve the quality of balance sheet reporting
  • Liaise with external auditors on project related aspects such as revenue recognition, WIP and cost accruals
  • Support Project Managers in day to day project accounting

Technical Standards

  • Responsible for ensuring team members within assigned work area(s) maintain appropriate levels of technical competence
  • Review the work of project accounting team, and train and mentor them where weaknesses are identified
  • Working with Commercial functions to assess capacity and complexity when assigning new projects to the project accounting team

Corporate Finance

  • Ensuring robust budgeting and forecasting is undertaken
  • Ensuring accurate and consistent journals are posted in accordance with revenue recognition policy
  • Jointly lead monthly project review meetings with Finance and Commercial teams
  • Meeting internal and external corporate audit requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in similar role, with some people management responsibilities.
  • Experience in either implementing or enhancing finance systems and processes
  • Experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders including corporate entity functions
  • Professionally qualified in either ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • System development and implementation programs (desirable)
  • Experience in system development and implementation
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills with all levels of management and staff
