A fantastic opportunity for a compliance officer to join an educational entity on a permanent basis.

The job holder will be primarily responsible for coordinating Health and Safety (H&S), general legislative compliance to ensure that trips and events run smoothly, working closely with the Head of School, Principals and wider Leadership team.

The post holder should also be comfortable with the wider, more general responsibilities of working within a school environment.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains and updates risk assessments logs for each major responsibility area (eg, office, classroom, trips, events, sports, pool, facilities). Ensures that the relevant senior manager is aware of the H&S obligations in their area of responsibility
  • Maintains and updates a record of all compliance training alerting the relevant senior manager when training is due
  • Coordinates a schedule of compliance training, ensuring appropriate induction training for new staff and maintaining a central store of online training
  • Maintains an overview of calendared events as they are outside the ordinary routines of school life, ensuring clear communication, effective coordination and compliance with H&S regulations. These include staff only events, community trips and events, and oncampus events run by outside individuals and organisations
  • Organizes meetings, maintains records, and ensures compliant trips and events
  • Maintains a register of H&S accidents, incidents and near misses and ensures appropriate reporting to the Head of School and wider Leadership Team
  • Liaises and works closely with external H&S consultants to ensure ISA have robust H&S procedures
  • Assists the Head of School and wider Leadership Team in ensuring that ISA complies with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Assists the wider Leadership Team in maintaining compliant school policies and ensuring these are digitally filed and accessible to staff and stakeholders as required
  • Works with the IT director to ensure compliance on data protection issues
  • S/he also works with the social and emotional counsellor, the school nurse and the first response coordinator to ensure compliance on child protection and medical issues
  • Works with the Principals and the Professional Learning Coordinator to induct new staff in areas of safety, child protection and other compliance issues

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Prior experience or qualification in Health and safety would be

  • Experience of working in schools with prior knowledge of school's regulatory

  • Experience of policy writing and the ability to interpret legislation is

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate in a succinct, objective and calm manner
  • Highly professional, approachable and positive
  • A confident communicator and advisor in fast moving situations
