Responsibilities:


You will take ownership in supporting the introduction of new products and services, be responsible for attending project work streams as a SME, providing guidance and direction, ensuring that the operational readiness and requirements of the Underwriting team are met.


Identify through management processes and regular reviews of team performance, L&D requirements, ensuring these are fed back via the correct channel.

Manage training roll out sessions for continuous improvement and success of the service department.

Support individuals to recognise, meet and grow their potential, setting and achieving actions on their own performance, allowing them to develop further if desired.

Respond and manage positively towards change and adapt quickly to meet business needs or deadlines.

You continually provide and review MI, feeding back and manage any identified trends that may anticipate behaviour within the team.

You will personally decide how best to proceed when presented with an unacceptable risk or non-disclosure/misrepresentation.


Analysing telematics data:

  • Identifying trends in the data that demonstrates characteristic for inclusion within the companies risk reduction initiatives and the characteristics of anomalous actives, such as use outside the policy covers, terms & conditions.
  • Following concerns found in the data, you will evaluate the risk posed to the business and take the necessary steps to mitigate any unnecessary risk and/or exposure, such as but not limited to; issuing advisory correspondence, declining to offer a renewal invitation or removing the risk off cover.
  • You continually review and analyse data, identifying trends and take initiative to anticipate behaviour, provide recommendations and communicate these trends and results to the appropriate levels/departments.
You are responsible for keeping abreast of industry trends (internal and external), market knowledge and legislation. Responding positively to change and adapt quickly to meet business needs or deadlines


Responsible for maintaining high standards of administration, documentation and data integrity, personally and across the immediate team leading to a best possible output.


Ensure that the Motor Underwriting Team provides an exceptional and professional service at all times and maintain service standards in line with company policy and business improvement initiatives.


Undertake project work on an ad hoc basis and being pro-active working with the Underwriting Management Team by providing technical underwriting assistance, utilising your knowledge, judgement and skill.


Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

Experience Required

  • Experience of working within a Motor Insurer or Broker is expected as a minimum requirement.

Qualifications Required

The following are essential:

  • Educated to a GCSE-Level standard minimum with Maths & English O-Level equivalent.
  • Progression towards the Foundation Insurance Test qualification

Technical Skills
A demonstrable skill / knowledge in each of the following areas is essential:

  • The principles of insurance.
  • Motor Underwriting rating factors.
  • The content and structure of a motor insurance policy including a detailed knowledge of all AIOI policy wordings and associated coverages / exclusions.
