Join us as a Risk & Controls Lead

  • We're looking for an experienced Risk and Controls Lead to manage a small team of risk professionals
  • We'll look to you to proactively drive the assessment and implementation of risk framework and policy compliance and changes, converting these into appropriate strategies and action plans
  • In this highly collaborative role, you'll support, develop and embed risk and control mechanisms, independently overseeing and challenging effective risk and controls management within agreed risk appetites

What you'll do

You'll have responsibility for ensuring Mettle's compliance with key regulatory requirements and act as regulatory SME in the business to support the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of our risk framework and processes.

You'll be a member of theRisk leadership team and will guide the development and delivery of remedial action plans where risks are considered out of appetite.

On top of this, you'll be familiar with Agile practices and able to work in an iterative way, in keeping with the methods used across all Product and Engineering teams.


You'll also be:

  • Working with teams across the business, particularly Product, Marketing, Operations and Technology Teams, to provide technical expertise and advice on compliance impact and requirements
  • Providing risk leadership and advocacy, to support a culture of proactive and preemptive risk management and continuous improvement, and the attainment of operational risk objectives
  • Providing guidance and support in relation to the risk and control management, ensuring regulatory obligations and internal governance requirements are met
  • Driving the evolution of risk and control processes, key risk indicators and oversight of your stakeholders risks
  • Coaching your team to drive and oversee remedial action plans, ensuring they are robust and timely, and tracked to completion

The skills you'll need

You'll also bring:

  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment and scenario analysis methodologies
  • Knowledge of FCA Handbook requirements, Payment regulations, and Riskbased operational risk frameworks employed by most large banks
  • Experience of working in a customer experience and /or customer designled thinking environment
