An exciting opportunity has arise within the maternity governance team.

We are looking for a confident and organised midwife who will be able to facilitate and lead on the design, production and allocation of the audit and assurance work programmes to promote clinical excellence.

You will work closely within a small team evaluating aspects of women's care through various processes.

Facilitate the design, production, prioritisation and allocation of the Audit and assurance work programmes to promote clinical excellence.


To Promote a high level of audit and quality in the midwifery service and must be able to challenge practice and influences change in the service based on evaluation of audit or national guidance.


Work closely with the maternity governance team and standard/audit leads in evaluating aspects of women's care through audit and monitoring progress against identified action plan.

Have a good awareness of national programmes to ensure incorporation into the audit programme as applicable.


To provide specialist midwifery practice, advice, guidance and support for the multidisciplinary team in relation to clinical audit, effectiveness and quality improvement.

Co-ordinate the updating of current guidelines and the development of new evidence based guideline.


Ensure robust methods of evidence collection for CQC requirements, developing an action plan when gaps in evidence have been identified.

Support the embedding of a culture of continuous quality improvement and assurance across all services.

Responsibilities:


To lead on the planning, development and maintenance of the directorate's audit strategy and yearly audit plan in line with local and national requirements.


To co-ordinate and monitor the completion of all clinical audit within the directorate as per the audit plan and national standards for clinical effectiveness.

To undertake clinical audits.

To present findings of audits undertaken at identified groups and meetings both within the Trust and LMNS.


To ensure multi-disciplinary clinical audit is embedded at ward level, ensuring that patient care reflects the Trust's quality strategy, and that it meets clinical governance standards.

To attend and participate in maternity's meetings as appropriate, ensuring clear and concise reporting.

Act as a resource for staff in both the hospital and community setting. Support others in to undertake and present audit.

Ensure learning from audit and clinical effectiveness reviews is shared using the departmental feedback mechanisms.


Update the multidisciplinary team on audits undertaken, progress on the quality improvement plan and changes in practice resulting from audit.

Provide quarterly progress reports to the Trust Wide Audit Facilitator.

Lead on the ATAIN Programme.

Develop and maintain up to date IT systems and spreadsheets to record all audit undertaken within the directorate.

Ensure that audit projects have a SMART action plan which has a monitoring process in place.

Ensure national audit data and reporting compliance to national audits is undertaken and accurate.

To act as an autonomous practitioner.

Communication

Communication is a fundamental process to ensure continuity and high standards of care. It includes sharing ideas, information and feedback in order to empower patients and members of the interdisciplinary team.


Skilled in communicating complex information to a range of people on a daily basis some of who may have communication barriers.

To be responsible for disseminating Trust policies and information as required.

Provides feedback to other workers on their communication at appropriate times.


A key responsibility will be to utilize a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with patients and those involved in their care.
