Job Description:
Abcam, a rapidly expanding bioscience organisation, are looking for a highly experienced Research Associate to join the automation and operations team within our Cell Lines platform unit.
You will need to hit the ground running and work within the department to develop novel technologies to assist the generation of edited cell lines using CRISPR Cas9 technologies.
This is a very exciting opportunity for someone looking to participate in development of cutting-edge technological approaches and employ their skills and expertise to create the largest catalogue of physiologically relevant disease models with unprecedented efficiency, ease and reproducibility of use.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Run high throughput automation platform, as well as standalone instruments (liquid handler, multidrop, imager, tube marker, etc).
- Work with area Lead to troubleshoot, optimise and test various automation scripts and C# code.
- Preparation of tissue culture reagents.
- Support automation activities and tissue culture staff in operational areas. This will include such activities as; labelling cryovials, put away and organisation of cryovials, maintaining consumable and reagent stock levels, ordering external consumables and regents.
- Monitor key areas of dayday laboratory activities ensure the smooth running of the team's activities and identify opportunities to improve and areas of risk.
- Help establish and maintain high quality standards during experimental processes and record keeping.
- Help maintaining a safe and efficient working environment in the laboratory, ensure the safety of colleagues & visitors and comply with Health and Safety (H&S) policies.
Qualifications:
You will have a BSc or equivalent in a relevant life sciences area. Experience working in a tissue culture lab or clean room environment and hands on experience with liquid handlers.
Experience in Life Science industry biotech or pharma is desirable along with strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.
