- Participate in the on-call rota for the department.
- Work to ensure lists are completed in a timely fashion; review at start of session whether what is planned is likely to be completed.

- Assist in the preparation and cleaning of theatre areas.
- Provide assistance during the administration, maintenance and termination of local/topical/dermal anaesthetics
- Provide a prepared anaesthetic area for safe administration, maintenance and termination of local/topical/dermal anaesthetics
- Check patient details and records and liaise with surgical/anaesthetic team to facilitate the smooth running of the list
- Prepare the recovery area to receive patients and carry out all the safety checks prescribed on daily checking sheet
- Evaluate patients physiological and psychological needs pre-operatively on the ward
- Take hand over of patient from anaesthetist
- Provide skilled care in response to assessment and observation in the recovery area
- Report and document clinical observations accurately
- Provide a comprehensive hand over of information to the ward staff on returning patient to ward Person Specification

Job summary
We are a Tertiary referral unit admitting patients from across Sussex. We provide a diverse catalogue of surgical procedures covering most forms of elective and emergency surgery patients however on this occasion we are seeking applicants to join our ENT and Maxillofacial team.
Main duties of the job
Providing anaesthetic and surgical services in the Operating Theatres located on Level 5 of the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Being the point of knowledge for junior colleagues
Providing technical expertise within the role
To act as team leader/senior nurse in individual theatre. To ensure standards of nursing care meet current levels and to identify if any updating is needed.
Working to promote the team as a service to the clinicians
Problem solve to enable a smooth transition of patients through the specialty.
