Maintenance Fitter


STEM Recruitment Solutions are looking for Maintenance Fitters with excellent attention to detail, strong time management, and excellent communication skills to join our clients based near Irvine/Troon.

We have two full-time positions available where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our clients' machinery and equipment.


As a Maintenance Fitter you will be responsible for both the setup and ongoing maintenance of automatic and semi-automatic machinery, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Health and Safety procedures.

Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the existing maintenance team to maintain the plant, minimize downtime, and maximize plant throughput.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, repair, and operation of machinery, adhering to GMP standards.
  • Collaborate proactively with colleagues to ensure machinery operates smoothly, identifying and addressing faults and defects.
  • Comprehend and follow GMP procedures, participating in relevant training.
  • Accurately complete documentation according to company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adherence to GMP standards in production areas, assisting with planned preventative maintenance and cleaning schedules.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to meet production deadlines and provide support to other departments as needed.

Experience, Skills, Qualifications Required:


  • Fully qualified Fitter/Electrician with relevant experience in a heavy mechanical facility.
  • Engineering background and mechanical awareness with a genuine interest in machine operation, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills for calculations and documentation.
  • Flexibility and willingness to cover various shift patterns.
  • Organised and capable of working well in a team while demonstrating initiative.
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in adherence to procedures.
  • Trustworthy, selfmotivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.

From £18.50 per hour
