Job Purpose
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the HR processes within Veritas Solicitors.
You will work with an experienced HR leader, helping to address all HR requirements of the business.
The goal of the role is to assist the Head of HR to ensure each employee receives a high standard of service and care.
The duties of this role will include:
- Continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures
- Working through and managing a busy HR inbox with various queries from employees
- Handling colleague absences, holiday requests and family leave appropriately
- Maintenance of colleague records within HR system
- Processing paperwork and generating documents, including HR correspondence
- Checking HR compliance and processing new starter documents
- General administrative duties
- Ensure HR systems are up to date and accurate
- Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement and enhancement of HR systems
- Confidently and appropriately handling confidential information
- Supporting Team Leaders and Senior Management with HR consultative advice across the full HR spectrum
- Work with recruitment colleagues to acquire reference details and requests
- When necessary, helping to conduct performance and absence reviews, as well as interviews
- Helping with the management of company benefits and incentives
- Corporate/Social Responsibility and Charity work
- Arranging 1on1 meetings and general diary management
Competency Requirements
- Experience within HR in the legal sector would be beneficial
- IT proficient, comfortable using Microsoft software and technically adaptable
- Experience in diary management
- The ability to multitask and prioritize as needed
- Good attention to detail and adaptable when necessary
- Proactive, selfmotivated, with strong timekeeping skills
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Clear understanding of UK HR policy, practice, and current employment legislation
- Strong employee relations skills and background
- Supporting the business with adhoc jobs as required
Skills & Qualifications
- CIPD qualified or working towards a CIPD qualification
- Professional, neutral, and approachable demeanour
- Experience of working within a fastpaced environment
- Able to set a good example with performance and engagement in company culture
- Ability to work with discretion and tact
- Strong organization skills with excellent attention to detail
- Able to work well under pressure
- Able to work well in a team and independently
