GovNet is excited to be partnering with ISBL to recruit an experienced Head of Content to join the ISBL team.

The Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL) is the UK's only dedicated professional body for school business leaders (SBLs). We have been supporting our education sector for over 25 years.

Our courses, training and qualifications are underpinned by nationally recognised Professional Standards and accommodate the development needsof practitioners at different points in their career journey.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Leadership _
  • Develop and continuously improve our communication strategy, including both routes to new market opportunities and retention of our current market share
  • Ensure the organisation makes optimal use of communication channels including but not limited to member bulletins, social media, trade press, ISBL's quarterly magazine, dedicated campaigns and the platform we enjoy at events (both our own and external)
  • Manage education policy updates and curate briefings using ISBL's own intelligence, DfE relationships and a regular flow of information from sector experts
  • Manage external providers and support the Business Administrator to deliver the ISBL communications strategy
  • Oversee the ISBL member communications including the fortnightly bulletins, finance and business updates and ad hoc communications as required
  • Content development __
  • Take a keen interest in, and develop knowledge of, the sector and in particular the impact developments have on SBL practice
  • Curate informative and engaging sector updates and support the production of coherent and authoritative bulletins, newsletters, comments for media and any relevant marketing messaging
  • Develop a repository of case studies and thought leadership by engaging with practitioners and sector experts and developing content using a variety of platforms including but not limited to vlogs, blogs, podcasts, webinars, interviews and articles
  • Event Delivery _
  • Produce and manage detailed project plans and actively manage the budget to optimise profit from each and every event
  • Research and negotiate supplier contracts/venues
  • Create detailed running orders and ensure all stakeholders are fully briefed
  • Relationship Management _
  • Oversee, manage and lead the ISBL Events Committee Special Interest Group, ensuring that the terms of reference are adhered to
  • Work with the Head of Professional Development on the development of new content ensuring a common thread between SBLs' development needs.
  • Actively research and seek out new speakers and presenters
  • Database & Software_
  • Utilise CRM software to manage the guest/exhibitor booking process and keep uptodate records of all bookings, including options, across each planned event
  • Maintain and update exhibitor spreadsheets and database records regularly, ensuring compliance with GDPR
  • Provide weekly update reports to the Operations Director on the bookings made against each planned event
  • Special working conditions _
  • Travelling outside of Coventry to events, including overnight stays
  • Attending evening and early morning events/meetings
  • During busy periods, some travel and extra hours will be required
  • Manual handling of event equipment (banners, literature, etc.)
