Audiobook and eBook sales are one of the fast-growing parts of our business.

Gardners provides services for publishers, retailers, corporations, public libraries, educational, and academic customers worldwide, providing our customers the ability to offer over 10 million books.


Previous experience in digital content or book buying is not essential as you will be working within a team of 40 staff covering all aspects of buying and managing physical and digital publications.


The Supplier Relations Assistant will be responsible for acquiring new products, liaising with suppliers concerning sales opportunities, growth and development of new/existing product lines and services, and liaising with all levels of management both internally and externally.

Some of the day-to-day tasks of the Supplier Relations Assistant are outlined below, but other ad-hoc duties may be required:

  • Pro-actively developing existing, new product lines, and service.
  • Regularly reviewing sales and supplier terms.
  • Working in close collaboration with relevant internal departments.
  • Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products.
  • Attending book fairs and trade events.
  • Working with the existing buying team and office to share and cultivate your knowledge of the industry.
  • Liaising with other departments within the organisation to ensure projects are completed.
  • Inventory control.
The hours for this position are 9am - 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Additional Information


Whilst our offices are in Eastbourne, we are happy to consider remote based working, with 2-3 days a week working in the office.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent project and timemanagement skills, with the ability to prioritise your workload.
  • Commercial acumen and an analytical mindset coupled with strong negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel.
  • Good communication and organisational skills, supported by strong attention to detail, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Proactive, with the ability to work on your own initiative but be a teamplayer.
  • Resilience with the ability to problemsolve.
Desired Skills

  • Previous buying and/or sales capacity will be an advantage.
