    Description
    Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit (SACRU), are introducing a permanent, full time Nurse Consultant role to surgical SDEC.

    SACRU is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner lead Emergency Surgical Assessment unit.

    The unit currently accepts ambulatory general surgery and urology and ENT patients with a view to welcoming other specialties in the future.

    We are a progressive, expanding organisation with great ambition around improving quality integrating pathways and delivering high levels of productivity.


    The role will sit under the division of surgery and theaters and will require you to work with the wider clinical and management teams to develop services and research within Surgical SDEC.

    Expert clinical practice' within the service for at least 50% of the post, ideally including undertaking training and taking on the Responsible Clinician role in practice:
    Professional leadership and consultancy, including clinical supervision
    Education, training and development of staff, and a range of other agencies.
    Research into various aspects of service provision and service evaluation which involves this client group.

    The Nurse Consultant will contribute to the development of the service which will offer swift access to specialist clinicians and a range of diagnostic tests to ensure that patients will not stay in hospital overnight if they are able to go home.

    Assimilate and standardise local and national quality standards/care pathways
    Leading locally and nationally in implementation of QI, Audit, and education
    Optimise digital transformation opportunities for patient benefit, developing research through practice.
