    We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

    This is an exciting time to join the acute division of unplanned care, where we are incorporating multi-speciality medical and same day emergency care, all into one footprint under the umbrella of acute medical services.

    We are seeking an experienced acute or emergency Nurse Team Managers who would like a to develop their management and skills in a busy Same Day Emergency Care unit.

    You will be able to adapt to continually changing situations whilst promoting the highest quality patient care, working closely and collaboratively with the Acute Assessment Unit and the emergency department whilst under taking the in reach role to maintain timely and safe patient flow.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will be accountable for the line management of nursing staff, enabling the department to provide the highest standards of care, minimising any risks to service users.

    Promote high standards of professional practice and the delivery of quality care within the corporate policies, protocols, and guidelines.

    Be accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures at department level, through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy as outlined in Section 3 of the strategy.

    Be accountable for the budget management and undertake in Reach role and covering GP hotline.

    Provide effective leadership for all nurses, clinical support workers, clerks and ward housekeepers employed by the service.

    Be a member of the directorate's management team providing expert advice and direction on nursing and clinical governance issues.

    Be a role model for nurses, representing the department and Trust as required and identified by the PSM, DHON,HON, Clinical Director and General Manager.

    The post holder will be required to work 365 days a year. You will work both clinically and supervisory, demonstrating sound clinical knowledge across multiple specialities.

    Qualifications

    Essential criteria

    • Registered nurse on part 1 of the NMC register
    • Relevant clinical post registration education to include a recognized Mentorship qualification
    • Evidence of on-going professional development through professional profile

    Desirable criteria

    • Relevant degree or working towards Degree
    • Managerial and leadership qualification /relevant experience

    Previous Experience

    Essential criteria

    • Registered Nurse with proven recent experience at Band 6 in the acute specialty setting
    • Uses evidence based practice to support care delivery
    • Evidence of an understanding in expenditure and budget management

    Desirable criteria

    • Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences.
    • Cross specialty experience at band 6

    Skills

    Essential criteria

    • Ability to communicate effectively at a complex level-excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent clinical knowledge and skills, ability to detect deterioration and manage accordingly
    • Ability to advocate for all patients, particularly vulnerable patients
    • Ability to manage self and others in delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet departmental expectations.
    • Demonstrate evidence of strong leadership and motivational skills, ability to lead and motivate large clinical team.
    • Demonstrate a flexible approach ,able to react to the changing needs of the department ensuring sustainability .
    • Ability to engage with management Research and development including presentation at national and international conferences. Proven track record in change management, to include service development. 11 and staff, demonstrating excellent negotiating skills to enable high quality service delivery.
    • Demonstrate, sound organisational skills and ability to work effectively in a devolved management structure.
    • Performance management skills, including understanding of and invoking disciplinary procedure.
    • Ability to work on own initiative and autonomously
    • Good time management skills
    • Ability to be adaptive and responds well in times of stress

    Desirable criteria

    • Research and development including presentation at national and international conferences.
    • Proven track record in change management, to include service development.

    Knowledge

    Essential criteria

    • Knowledge of current Trust wide and Department of Health initiatives
    • Proactive in the understanding of risk management, health and safety and other clinical governance issues.
    • Evidence, understanding and insight into current issues in nursing and the NHS
    • Knowledge of local and national health care initiatives/innovation to improve patient care, experience and safety.
    • Demonstrates ability to influence and manage successfully
    • Clinical expert and role model
    • IT skills – understanding windows, word, excel and PowerPoint

    • In depth understanding of product procurement process
