Central Digital Review Unit Lead Investigator

The Central Digital Review Unit (CDRU) provides comprehensive digital evidence review services to Enforcement and Market Oversight (EMO). We provide strategic direction for eDiscovery techniques in the processing, review, and production of evidence.


We:

  • Examine large numbers of documents in an expert manner for relevance, responsiveness, privilege, and confidentiality.
  • Provide strategic advice on digital review leadership to EMO case teams in matters of digital evidence.
  • Provide administration of the eDiscovery supervised machine learning platforms and management of hosted digital evidence.


What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?- Lead, manage and develop your team, demonstrating accountability for the work for both the team and you by determining how the team prioritises work in line with wider objectives.- Support the Manager in the development and planning of the team strategy and priorities, team planning and evaluation the eDiscovery proof of concept work.- Provide information on competing resource demands to management.- Manage day to day resourcing of competing demands and pace.- Be confident in maintaining review standards and delivery.- Ability to motivate the team to stay focussed and achieve challenging timescales.- Liaise with Investigation Case Teams to provide strategic direction for eDiscovery techniques in the processing and reporting of evidence.- Providing best practice and advice in the use of our eDiscovery tool, acting as a point of escalation for complex issues.- Preparing for and presenting at project boards to provide specialist advice, recommendations, and actions. Be responsible for driving quality assurance on cases across the team.- Training and coaching team members and colleagues when required and being a member of expert groups when appropriate.- Being a key player in cross-divisional and department projects and initiatives when required.- Meeting with external parties such as regulated firms or their legal representatives in relation to requests for information.- Leading a team of people.- An opportunity to work in a new and exciting department helping to shape the service as it grows and innovates using supervised machine learning.- You will work on investigations that really matter, supporting the aims of the organisation in the regulation of financial services in the United Kingdom and its economy.- The role provides the ongoing opportunity, environment, and training to develop and enhance your technical abilities and knowledge in eDiscovery/EDRM.

Skills/Experience Required

Minimum Experience in any of the following areas: regulatory investigations or litigation; investigations involving serious fraud, complex financial crime, or criminal cases

Essential- Experience of influencing internal and external stakeholders and working constructively with decisions made by others, bringing best practice to the whole review process- Experienced in developing a review project strategy including identifying key risks and putting in place steps to mitigate those risks, splitting the project into relevant workstreams and planning required resource- Proven ability to identify and solve any issues with documents that are at the QA (Quality Assurance) stage- Proven ability to assess and analyse voluminous and data-heavy bodies of evidence in complex cases, exercising judgement on the evidence and being able to defend those judgements where appropriate, including to senior management and presentation in court or tribunal- Knowledge of the eDiscovery Reference Model (EDRM) process- Understanding of artificial intelligence and continuous active learning (CAL)- Management duties - evidence of leading a team (coaching/mentoring)

Desirable- Enquiring curious mind, critical thinking, problem solving, ability to review cases objectively- Experience of giving evidence in court or at a tribunal- Experience of the whole investigative process- Technically adept in the use of eDiscovery systems (specific training given) and office tools- Adaptable and flexible to the information as it is revealed

Useful Information- This role is graded as Lead Associate - Regulatory- Applications for this role close on 6th June 2023- This role is based in Leeds- The salary range for this role will be £55,600 - £84,900 plus a competitive- benefits package
- and non-contributory pension. The salary offered will be based on skills & experience
