Maintenance Operative

Hours:
Part time, 30 hours per week

12 month contract with the possibility to be made permanent


Salary:
Negotiable

The Wilberforce Trust are seeking a maintenance person to provide day to day maintenance and DIY

Support within our community-based services in York and Tadcaster.

Reporting to:
Housing and Facilities Manager

Main Responsibility
To undertake minor repairs and maintenance as required. Daily use of company van with fuel card.


Skills Required:

Joinery, decorating, minor plumbing, to enable furniture moves, grounds maintenance, clearing of low guttering and general DIY skills.

Working at Heights qualification would be beneficial.

Good IT Skills is essential


Health and Safety

  • To be responsible for Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) at HQ and the communitybased services and reporting all defects to line manager
  • To carry out statutory weekly checks to the fire alarm system in all our communitybased services, completing appropriate records and notifying line manager of any defects
  • Adhere to risk assessments and Health & Safety legislation at all times
  • Maintain the car park areas at our communitybased services to ensure that it is safe and clear of hazards e.g. leaves frost/snow.

Training
To attend all training deemed necessary by the Organisation


Time Management
To prioritise and manage own work load in the most efficient manner to ensure that all reported maintenance requirements are completed in accordance with risk


Communication
To maintain communication with Line Manager to ensure all defects or hazards are reported that may affect service delivery
