The role purpose:


We are looking for a Front of House Supervisor to join the passionate team in our catering venues; You will generally be located at the Bishops Kitchen Café but may also work across our other Catering venues including our El Castillo Spanish tapas restaurant.


The newly refurbished Bishops Kitchen sits at the heart of Auckland Castle, which has been celebrating food for the last 900 years.

The Bishop's Kitchen seats 60 indoor and 60 outside in the secluded Kitchen Courtyard, and sits at the heart of the Castle, offering a warm welcome and a delicious range of freshly baked goods and light lunches.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Auckland Project.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead on the delivery of exceptional hospitality; creating a unique customer experience.

This will be achieved by maintaining a safe, happy creative workplace founded in professionalism and with strong team ethic. We are looking for someone who can channel their passion to consistently exceed customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

The post-holder is responsible for the following key accountabilities:

  • Manage and lead a small team of servers, working with a larger external team offsite
  • Ensuring exceptionally high standards of service and presentation from all members of the team
  • Be responsible for the rostering of staff and volunteer rotas and hours
  • Recognising training needs within a newly developing team. Training, supporting and mentoring servers to deliver to the expected standards
  • Finishing and serving food and drinks
  • Smart, well presented and capable of remaining calm whilst under pressure in a busy environment
  • Responding to customer feedback and being proactive at all times, using initiative, diplomacy and discretion to avoid issues as they arise
  • Identifying commercial opportunities
  • Work within specified processes around our stock management and EPOS solution, ensuring that all information is up to date and that all processes are completed on a day to day basis
  • Ensuring good health, safety and access practice, ensuring familiarity and compliance with TAP policies, procedures and guidelines and the health and safety of visitors, staff, volunteers and contractors at all times.
  • Stock rotation, ordering and deliveries, limiting levels of waste
  • Using a till system, cashing up duties
  • Knowledge of menus, allergens, and presentation standards
  • Carry out all cleaning duties allocated in accordance with the cleaning schedule
  • Above all, it is essential that you can work flexibly across the seven days of the week including weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays and that you have a flexible attitude to supporting our operation and working in different areas of it at short notice.
