Description

About The Role:

The National Lottery changes the lives of ordinary people through the £30 million it raises every week for good causes all across the UK.

National Lottery players help build local communities, power sports teams, protect the environment, unleash creative talent, look after the elderly and unlock youthful potential.

In addition, support from the National Lottery wins Olympic medals and Oscars.

The National Lottery Promotions Unit (NLPU) raises positive public awareness of National Lottery funding, thereby contributing to the overall brand health of The National Lottery.

As a Data Journalist, you will be accountable for an area of work, playing a pivotal role in delivering our most complex and compelling stories to deliver our strategic objective and raise the positive awareness of The National Lottery.

This is a new role to the organisation, therefore you will be the first dedicated resource to provide insights, create data content based on the relevant data from across the National Lottery distributors to better harmonise our business intelligence and start to tell the National Lottery story through the measurement of our impact and data outcomes across the whole of the UK.

Your work will be instrumental in making our grant-making data a fundamental part of our external narrative to influence key audiences by finding innovative and interesting ways to communicate the depth and scale of National Lottery investment.

Across the four areas of National Lottery funding - the arts, sport, heritage and community - we are initiating a more consistent and coherent approach to data collection for The National Lottery family.

This new role will ensure we are working to a consistent data baseline and identifying what is important to measure and what is essential to communicate to consumer and stakeholder audiences.

You'll have day-to-day responsibility for data analysis as part of a small, highly performing team, which is the principal communication agent for National Lottery good cause story telling.

You will work alongside a new Business Analyst and the lead data specialists from across the National Lottery family to create an authoritative voice for the integrity, consistency, accuracy, of National Lottery data and proof points.

You'll lead the interpretation and interrogation of the data output of the National Lottery Family and use your deep understanding of data to connect and stimulate data rich material to create stories for media campaigns.

As well as access to the best data sources and tools, from across the National Lottery's family of distributors, you will also develop and interrogate the DCMS National Lottery database to provide data and insight-based analysis which will ensure audiences develop a closer affinity to The National Lottery and a higher propensity to play.

Your data analysis will convey both the depth and breadth of National Lottery investment and inspire audiences to feel more connected as The National Lottery turns thirty and beyond.

You will have a UK-wide remit and a proactive approach to engaging with communication teams across the Lottery Family

The ideal applicant will build positive relationships and networks with colleagues and stakeholders to generate commitment to goals and ensure delivery, both inside and outside the NLPU.
