    Job overview

    As a Digital Learning Officer you will be responsible for supporting the Practice Education team within the organisation, working closely with the work stream leads, Clinical Education Lead and the Associate Directors of Nursing. While demonstrating proactive problem solving capabilities and a high level of concentration. The successful candidate must be able to work accurately to deadlines and be flexible, as the role will continue to develop.

    Main duties of the job

    To support the Practice Education team with digital learning in and outside of the organisation by maintaining, creating and facilitating new and ongoing programmes of learning through a multitude of delivery platforms. Collaborating with the work stream leads, Clinical Education Lead and the Associate Directors of Nursing to meet local, regional and national objectives.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Deal with a range of work procedures and practices, requiring expertise within specialism underpinned by theory.
  • Have a sound knowledge of communications, practice education, talent for care and marketing communication techniques, approaches and procedures. Acquired through training to relevant degree level or equivalent.
  • Maintain stock control; safe use of expensive equipment/purchase of some assets and supplies. Order printing, publications; use of digital cameras, projectors and purchase of printing services.
  • Regular requirement to use software to create various documents and maintain one or more information system.
  • Develop presentations using desk-top publishing, website software; maintenance of a photo library and departmental databases.
  • Create, develop and maintain websites and other digital platforms.
  • Record and edit videos into a professional format.
  • To be confident in engaging with internal/external stakeholders, staff and learners, adjusting communication style as appropriate to the needs of the audience.
  • Prioritise own workload in line with service needs ensuring that critical deadlines are met.
  • Plan, organise and coordinate multiple digital learning projects, inclusive of social media management.
  • Build on new and existing clinical and non-clinical educational platforms. While embedding innovative and transformational digital learning practices.
  • Coordinate meetings, events, photo calls and communication campaigns relating to digital learning.
  • Provide relevant administration work for the department when required.
  • Review and audit of the quality of digital learning provided by the trust.
  • To work effectively as a member of the Education and Learning team, undertaking and supporting a full range of activities and tasks appropriate to the grade as required.
  • To aim to meet the expectations of our stakeholders, staff and learners at all times by aiming to meet the Practice Education departments service standards.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to work occasional weekends and evenings with some off-site working.

    As part of our continued response to COVID-19 the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 ("the 2014 Regulations") was updated and approved by Parliament. This meant that full COVID-19 vaccination would become a condition of employment in all NHS roles which have face-to-face contact with patients and service users from 1 April 2022 unless exempt.

    The Government subsequently announced that, given the changes to the Omicron variant, they believe it is no longer proportionate to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for NHS staff. The Government's decision is subject to Parliamentary process. This will require further consultation and a Parliamentary vote to be passed into legislation.

    As this role is within scope of the current legislation COVID-19 vaccination status will remain part of our routine Occupational Health check.     Essential criteria

  • GCSE English and Math at grade C or above or equivalent.
  • BSc in media or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience
