Purpose of the job


To manage and co-ordinate a team of people, by creating, communicating and ensuring execution of work to meet required completion dates to plans committed to customers.

Audit processes to ensure compliance (QHSE & Oracle/MES).

To ensure adequate training is provided to enable flexibility of skill levels and operator job rotation.

Identify, validate and implement continuous improvement activities.

Reports to

Factory Manager

For whom responsible

All personnel entering or working in their department.

Key accountabilities

  • Planning work for the cell.
  • Managing hours worked.
  • Reporting cell performance.
  • Ensuring training needs are identified.
  • Ensuring training needs are carried out and effectiveness recorded.
  • Liaising with other team leaders (internal customers/suppliers).
  • Communicate Company information to team members.
  • Identify and work with others to resolve inadequate or unclear manufacturing/engineering information.
  • Ensure quality standards and factory housekeeping is of the highest standard.
  • Ensure defective work is not passed from the cell.
  • Accountable for the Health & Safety of all personnel within their area.
  • Identify & resolve Health & Safety incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed correctly and on time.
  • Ensure that the companies Quality, Health Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are constantly adhered with.
  • Ensure all products are produced and delivered to the customers requirements.
  • At all times being helpful, courteous and professional towards internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure sufficient components/equipment is available or on order to meet delivery requirements
  • Shows understanding of the requirements of HR processes and procedures, manages them in the required timescale and positively promotes them across the business.
Communications

Effective and regular communication between manufacturing departmental members is crucial.

In addition the post holder when required must engage in regular communication with:


  • CNC Programming.
  • Switchgear Application Engineering.
  • Quality, Health & Safety and Environment.
  • Applications Engineering
  • Sales Applications/Internal Sales.
  • Project Managers
  • All manufacturing areas, Stores and Procurement.

Academic Qualification

  • IOSH managing safely course
  • Use of PC / Microsoft office
  • Lean "Yellow belt" training
  • Certified management qualification (e.g. ILM, NEBSM)
Team leaders currently in position should be working towards some of the above qualifications
