Support Assistant - Part Time

Ashfield Court, Darlington

18 hours per week available


We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.


At Ashfield Court, we provide long-term supported housing and personalised support for adults with mental health needs and learning disabilities.

Close to Darlington town centre we are within walking distance of public transport links, shops and leisure facilities.


Our Support Assistants build strong, positive, relationships with our residents to help build their confidence to live as independently as possible.

We understand our residents' ambitions and encourage them to reach these goals by helping them develop their daily living skills and maintain integration with the wider community.


We are looking for supportive and positive people to help our residents gain further independence and achieve their life goals.

You may be faced with challenging situations so you will need to be resilient and confident in managing these.


We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression.

The role of Support Assistant will include:

  • Supporting residents to build the confidence they need to gain further independence
  • Encouraging residents to develop their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being part of their community
  • Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our residents
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
  • Helping to maintain professional relationships with residents and their families to support their identified wishes and needs

Skills and experiences:


  • Ideally you will have experience of working with vulnerable people
  • You will be empathetic and nonjudgmental with a positive approach to managing challenging behavior
  • A positive, 'cando' attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, listening and time management skills
  • Ability to keep accurate records with good communication skills
