We have an exciting opportunity for a Court Support Clerk to join our Criminal Justice Unit on a temporary basis for 12 months.

The Criminal Justice Unit deals with the processing and administration of prosecution matters in partnership with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) & HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS).


As a Court Support Clerk will be responsible for:

  • Interrogating, maintaining and retrieving data/information using various computer and manual recording packages.
  • Providing advice and guidance to officers regarding file content and court process.
  • Liaising with HMCTS, CPS and external CJ agencies.
  • Processing Digital Files (Remand files, Charge and Bail files, to Court and CPS).
  • Reviewing and checking quality of Files, completing remedial/redaction work as necessary for first Court Hearings (Guilty Anticipated Pleas).
  • Identifying any potential data breaches and reporting to the appropriate agencies/department and Supervisor, completing any remedial work as required.
  • Reviewing Connect Task Boxes including identifying Action Plans/Memos forwarding to relevant parties for action.
  • Reviewing computer systems following first court hearings and progressing digital case file depending on result.
  • Finalising digital case files (Magistrates/Crown) including preparation of letters to victims/witnesses of crime.
  • Receiving, processing and reviewing appeal/warrant/committal for sentence files.

Skills and experience:


  • Experience of using Microsoft packages.
  • Experience in data input and retrieval of information.
  • Experience of word processing.
  • Experience of communication by a variety of means, including telephone and keyboard skills.
  • Flexibility to work overtime to meet organisational needs, and work at other locations within South Yorkshire if required.
