Assistant Fraud Strategy Manager

As a Barclays Assistant Fraud Strategy Manager, you'll be assessing the risks we and our clients face from fraudsters and other criminals and ensure strategies are put in place to mitigate these to protect our business, clients and customers without compromising the accessibility of our products and services. You'll also contribute to the teams' objectives aligned to proactive detection of all types of fraud and scams, contributing towards overall loss reduction and avoidance, improved customer experience and delivery of new fraud strategies.

This role will be based from our Northampton offices. We will confirm your place of work at the point of offer, ensuring that this is considered in line with our future ways of working and overall location strategy. The hiring manager for the role will discuss the appropriate defined time in office for the role with you as part of the application process.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). What will you be doing?

• Supporting the Fraud Strategy team in delivering their objectives aligned to loss reduction and avoidance, and improved customer experience

• Being responsible for developing threat analysis across the fraud & scam landscape for the distribution channels and client segments within BUK

• Monitoring, maintaining and assessing the effectiveness of core strategic controls in the detection & prevention of all card fraud, payment fraud, lending fraud and Scams

• Supporting the development and maintenance of automated MI to track loss performance and to identify emerging trends

• Developing and delivering strategies to enhance overarching fraud control framework & consumer education

• Developing business cases for tactical and strategic investment in people and systems to reduce client exposure to card fraud, payment fraud, lending fraud and to scams

What we're looking for:

• Analytical proficiency with experience in previous similar roles or with a numerate/ analytical qualification

• Ability to absorb large quantities of data and information, understand and assess

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to articulate issues and recommendations to a varied stakeholder audience

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Analytical and data driven with SAS experience in order to utilise the Barclays Data Warehouse to produce meaningful MI and narrative on fraud trends and losses

• Experience in the development and execution of Fraud Strategies, including knowledge of current trends impacting card fraud

• Ability to challenge assumptions and long held beliefs and bias, to support the business in the launch of cutting edge technology to prevent and detect fraud

• Understanding of impact of policy changes on large customer base in order to assess the level of complexity for company, colleagues and customers

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
