We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cooper to join our Muirhall site.

This is a permanent, dayshift role with a 38-hour working week with the following pattern: Monday to Thursday 06: & Friday 06:


Salary:
£43,904


Overall purpose of Role:


To assist the Company by ensuring that all casks are fit for filling through inspecting, maintaining and repairing leaking casks.


Skills & Experience:
Background

A proactive, time-served Cooper, experience in a manufacturing, FMCG or warehousing environment. Comfortable working as part of a team towards shared targets, with a focus on safe operations at all times.

Technical Experience

  • SIVQ or equivalent experience


  • Basic PC Skills

  • Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
Health, Safety & Environment

  • Working knowledge of HSE legislation
  • Experience of working on a COMAH site
Behaviours

  • A positive attitude with the desire to expand their skill set

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that an adequate supply of 'fit for filling' wood is maintained.
  • Repairing all leaking casks by replacing hoops and bungs, and recording details of those casks repaired as required.
  • Dipping the casks in the warehouses to determine contents level, as well as identifying and recording cask condition.
  • Inspecting the condition of casks.
  • Hardening casks as required prior to filling.
  • Repair ends of casks then inspecting / testing the casks after repair.
  • Ensuring the accurate storage of empty casks by category and customer.
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across the warehousing site.
  • Undertaking daily site inspection and reporting any defects on items of plant / equipment / fabric as well as any deviations from normal working practice to supervisors.
  • Work with and advise Operatives as required.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your contractual role.
